A Massachusetts woman has been indicted on murder charges in connection with the January 1985 death of her infant son. Dianne Curry Peck, 59, was arrested and charged after a cold case investigation identified her in the decades-old case.

The newborn's body was discovered by a father and son who were rabbit hunting in a snow-covered wooded area near the Mansfield Airport. According to the Bristol County District Attorney's Office, the father noticed footprints in the snow that led to a stone wall. Over the wall, he found what he initially thought was a doll, but upon closer inspection, realized it was the naked body of a newborn baby partially covered in snow.

The medical examiner determined the infant had been born alive but died a short time after birth. The case remained unsolved for over 40 years until it was addressed as part of the District Attorney's unidentified bodies project, which launched in 2022. This initiative utilizes advanced technology to identify human remains discovered within the last 40 years.

District Attorney Thomas Quinn stated that the project aims to identify remains to provide closure for family members and to determine if a crime occurred. Peck is scheduled to appear in court for an arraignment on Tuesday. Authorities have not released further details regarding the investigation or the specific evidence that led to Peck's indictment.
