Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) publicly criticized former President Donald Trump on Sunday, detailing a series of perceived failures and broken promises in a response to an apparent campaign email.
Greene, who has had a complex relationship with Trump, shared a screenshot of an email that asked, “Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor, did I do something wrong?” Her response, posted on X, began, “So yes, actually you did do something wrong President Trump, let’s first start with your broken campaign promises.”
Among her specific accusations, Greene stated that Trump “protected his pedophile rapists friends” and criticized his continued refusal to release files related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. She also condemned Trump’s decision to launch military strikes in Iran, which she described as an “unprovoked, stupid war of choice.” According to Greene, this conflict resulted in the deaths of Iranian schoolchildren, the loss of 21 U.S. service members, hundreds of wounded, destroyed bases in the Middle East, and billions of dollars in damaged or depleted military equipment.
Greene further targeted Trump for failing to deliver on an “affordable cost of living” for Americans. She also criticized his administration's actions regarding the conflict in Gaza, accusing him of “supporting, funding and aiding” what she described as a genocide.
Concluding her critique, Greene wrote, “YOU are the snake that you warned us all about in the poem you read over and over. You never cared about putting America first or making America great again. You are the deep state, the Epstein class, and America last. And my mistake was supporting you in the first place.”
Greene’s remarks follow a period of public divergence from Trump, notably after meeting with Tucker Carlson and other conservatives over the summer. This has led to speculation about a potential new political movement distinct from the traditional GOP. Greene herself has expressed disillusionment with the Republican Party, stating in June that she and many others are “DONE with the America LAST Republican Party,” while clarifying this does not equate to becoming Democrats.
