Mariska Hargitay, star of the long-running NBC crime drama "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," has teased that New York Knicks player Jalen Brunson may make an appearance on the show.
During an appearance on the "Today" show on Thursday, Hargitay hinted at the possibility, stating, "Don’t tell anyone but we got some things in the works." She made the remark in response to a question about seeing Brunson on "SVU."
Brunson, who recently led the Knicks to their first NBA championship since 1973, had previously mentioned that his offseason plans included appearing on "Law & Order: SVU" alongside Hargitay.
Christopher Meloni, Hargitay's "Law & Order" co-star, expressed his support for the potential cameo, calling Brunson "a world champion" who "can do whatever the hell he wants."
Hargitay and Brunson have developed a notable friendship. Hargitay, a dedicated Knicks fan, is often seen at courtside seats at Madison Square Garden and has shared emotional moments with Brunson throughout the Knicks' championship run. She was present for the team's ticker-tape parade in July 2026, riding on the celebratory float with her son.
Brunson reciprocated the support by attending Hargitay's Broadway show, "Every Brilliant Thing," in June 2026. He, along with his wife Ali and Hargitay's husband Peter Hermann, met with Hargitay backstage after the performance.
Their friendship has even drawn admiration from fellow Knicks fan and actor Ben Stiller, who commented on Brunson's "Roommates" podcast that Hargitay receives a level of post-game affection from fans that is the "envy of every other Knicks fan." Hargitay has previously referred to Brunson as her "inspiration" in past "Today" show appearances.
