Television host Mario Lopez is facing online criticism after posting an artificial intelligence-generated video of his niece, Kalia Wong, at a Dodgers game. The video, shared on Sunday, August 2, 2026, depicted Wong smearing mustard and relish on her face while eating hot dogs during a Dodgers-Red Sox game.
Lopez, who hosts "Access Hollywood," captioned the clip "I can’t take her anywhere," with Wong responding, "It’s so good!" The video was flagged on X, formerly Twitter, as potentially being AI-generated, further fueling reactions. Lopez also shared the clip to his Instagram Story with the caption, "My niece is out of control!"
The post drew a strong response from social media users, with many describing the video as "creepy" and "weird." Dan Katz, co-host of the "Pardon My Take" podcast, questioned Lopez with an expletive, while Barstool's Jeff D. Lowe called it "one of the weirdest tweets I’ve ever seen." Yashar Ali commented, "Uhhhh, what a creepy video for Mario Lopez to create using AI and then post… Especially since the subject is his niece!" Some speculated that Lopez's account may have been compromised.
Lopez has not yet directly addressed the online controversy. Throughout the game, he shared multiple videos with his niece, documenting their outing. In one Instagram Story video, Lopez described it as "Beautiful Sunday, uncle, niece day" as they walked to Dodger Stadium. Wong expressed her excitement for the day, saying, "I’m so excited it’s going to be a good day."
Lopez also shared his enthusiasm for the Dodgers' trade for pitcher Tarik Skubal, calling him "hotter than a Dodger dog on the grill" and expressing high expectations for the postseason. He captioned a video about the game, "Sunshine, baseball, family… doesn’t get much better than that. Let’s keep this postseason momentum rolling."
The Dodgers ultimately lost the game to the Red Sox, 8-4, completing a three-game sweep.
