A Marine veteran intervened and fatally shot a gunman who killed a woman at a Citibank office in Tampa, Florida, on Thursday. The attacker, identified as 35-year-old Jacob Pearson, drove from Orlando to the Citibank Center after becoming enraged over a summons related to a $2,500 debt.
Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister stated that Pearson crashed through a gate before shooting 41-year-old Leanne Selman. Pearson then returned to his vehicle to retrieve a handgun and shot Selman again as she attempted to crawl away. He subsequently entered the facility's cafeteria, reportedly seeking additional victims.
Pearson, who had sent a threatening message to an attorney's office involved in the debt collection, was confronted by Citibank security guard John Fraley. Fraley, a Marine veteran, took a tactical position in a restroom and fatally shot Pearson, according to authorities. Surveillance footage captured Pearson, described as shirtless in some reports, inside the Citibank corporate campus.
