Marco Rubio has refuted rumors that he is considering leaving his position as Secretary of State following the Republican Party's recent midterm election losses. Speaking to The New York Times, Rubio stated that serving the full four years of Donald Trump's second term has "always been my plan."

"I don't know where these things come from, to be honest with you," Rubio said in response to reports suggesting he was on "resignation watch." He also employed humor, joking about his varied roles within the administration and questioning which job insiders believed he might leave.

Rubio and Vice President JD Vance are considered potential frontrunners for the 2028 Republican presidential nomination. However, these prospects emerged before Tuesday's election results, which saw Republicans lose control of both the House and the Senate, partly attributed to voter dissatisfaction over the Iran War and inflation.

Rubio, who ran for president in 2016, has previously indicated he would not seek the nomination if Vance were to run.

When pressed about his potential candidacy in 2028, Rubio declined to comment, stating, "I literally will not talk about 2028 anymore. I just won't do it."
