Former NFL player Marcellus Wiley has publicly denied allegations of rape and abuse made by his wife, Annemarie Wiley, in a restraining order application. In a statement to The California Post, Wiley called the claims "lies" and asserted that he has gathered "videos, photographs, text messages, emails, and other evidence" that refute his wife's accusations.
Annemarie Wiley filed for divorce and a restraining order against Marcellus Wiley on Monday in Los Angeles, alleging a pattern of physical violence, sexual abuse, verbal and emotional abuse, and financial control throughout their marriage. She stated that their children have witnessed much of this alleged abuse. A temporary restraining order was granted, requiring Wiley to remain at least 100 yards away from his wife and children until a hearing on July 24.
Marcellus Wiley, however, claims that his wife has committed wrongdoing within their relationship. He alleges that evidence he possesses shows instances of infidelity, including an affair with the husband of her pregnant friend. Wiley also claimed the evidence reveals "serious and damaging parenting failures" and other "unflattering documented events."
He expressed that he never wanted his family's issues to become public, especially as leverage in divorce proceedings. Wiley stated his priority is his children and ensuring the positive image they have of him endures. He added that he is prepared to address the allegations through the legal process with evidence, focusing on his children, integrity, and the truth.
The couple married over a decade ago and have three children together. The dispute reportedly escalated during a stay in an Orlando hotel over the weekend, where Annemarie Wiley claimed Marcellus became physical and threatened her life. Marcellus Wiley denied these allegations, but was arrested and booked on a domestic battery charge.
