A manhunt has been launched for Anthony Lloyd, a 38-year-old prisoner who escaped from a medical facility in Lewisham, South London, on Friday. Lloyd was last seen at approximately 4:10 p.m. as he forced his way out of the unit and headed towards Catford. The Metropolitan Police have issued a public warning, stating that Lloyd "poses a risk both to himself and the public" and urging individuals not to approach him.
Lloyd is described as being around 5 feet 8 inches tall, of medium build, with short dark hair. At the time of his escape, he was reportedly wearing a grey-blue t-shirt, black tracksuit bottoms, and white trainers.
The prisoner was convicted in 2025 for Actual Bodily Harm (ABH) in connection with an incident in Nottinghamshire that involved three emergency workers. He had been serving a 12-month custodial sentence before his transfer to the Lewisham medical facility in September.
Detective Superintendent Melanie Pressley, leading the investigation, stated that police are conducting "significant inquiries to find Lloyd and return him to custody." Authorities believe Lloyd may be in London but also has connections to Surrey, Sussex, Thames Valley, Hampshire, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, and Merseyside. Police are asking anyone with information about Lloyd's whereabouts to contact them immediately by calling 999.
