Manchester United made a renewed inquiry for Newcastle United left-back Lewis Hall late last month, but the Premier League club stated he is not available for transfer.

Hall has been a target for United throughout the summer as the club seeks to bolster its left-back options. With Luke Shaw, 31, entering the final year of his contract and young player Harry Amass reportedly being advised to seek first-team opportunities elsewhere, Manchester United perceives a need to strengthen the position.

Hall, 21, has three years remaining on his current contract with Newcastle. The acquisition would necessitate a substantial transfer fee, especially as Newcastle aims to achieve stability under new leadership with Matthias Jaissle now in place. The club intends to retain its key players, having already seen departures such as Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali, and with Bruno Guimaraes reportedly nearing a move to Arsenal.

Newcastle considers Hall one of its most valuable assets, having signed him from Chelsea in 2023. The club is committed to keeping him.

Manchester United, meanwhile, views its left-back depth as insufficient. Shaw started every Premier League match last season, but the team lacks a clear understudy. Patrick Dorgu is reportedly seen by manager Michael Carrick primarily as a winger.

United has completed signings including Youri Tielemans, Andrey Santos, and Karl Darlow this transfer window, but further additions are expected.

Newcastle also intends to strengthen its left-back position and is seeking a right-back, with Tino Livramento likely to depart. The club has shown interest in 19-year-old Jorge Salinas from Racing Santander, along with Aston Villa. However, Newcastle views Salinas as a prospect for the future rather than an immediate first-team option.
