A man identified as James McKay climbed over a garden wall and hurled expletives at Civil War reenactors and onlookers, including the Town Mayor of Warwick, at an event last weekend. The incident occurred at St. John's House in Warwick, where the Worcester Reenactors were staging a historical demonstration.
Footage of the event shows McKay shouting, "Oi! Oi! F*** off back to Worcester, you're not wanted anymore," and "You're f****** idiots" as reenactors prepared to fire matchlock muskets. The crowd, which included families and children, reacted with shock and dismay.
One person in the crowd was heard saying, "Oh, it's him!" while another filming the incident commented, "There's children here. You can't be saying that when there's children around."
McKay continued to yell abuse at the reenactors, who attempted to engage with him. He is understood to be a juror for the local court leet, an organization that upholds English traditions and retains a ceremonial legal status.
The event, organized by the Worcester Reenactors, aimed to educate the public about the English Civil War, which took place from August 1642 to September 1651 between Royalists and Parliamentarians. The reenactment included authentic camps, musket fire, drill displays, and crafts, and was advertised as family-friendly fun. The event was held on August 8 and 9.
