A man will stand trial for the alleged murder of a police station janitor 27 years ago. Allan Humphrey, 68, is accused of killing Michael McManus, 46, in the Riddrie area of Glasgow on July 13, 1999.

During a hearing, Donald Findlay KC, representing Humphrey, informed the court that a special defense of incrimination had been lodged against a named individual, Michael Todd. However, Findlay noted that Mr. Todd has since died, presenting a significant challenge for the defense during the trial. "There is nothing I can do about it if he is dead, he is dead," Findlay stated.

Prosecutor Alex Prentice KC also indicated that additional witnesses who were present at the time of the incident have also died since the crime occurred. The passage of time and the deaths of key individuals involved present notable obstacles for the prosecution and defense in pursuing the case.
