A man in South Wales has been sentenced after throwing glass bottles at a moving police car, an act that an officer described as potentially deadly. Mark Fraser, 40, was arrested in Aberdare following the incident on August 7, 2026.

Fraser hurled a bag of glass bottles that shattered the police car's windscreen while the officer was responding to a call. The officer expressed distress over the damage and the potential danger, stating, "You could have killed me, mate." He also noted that the damaged vehicle would be unable to respond to emergencies.

Fraser, who expressed remorse and stated he did not know why he committed the act, was subsequently arrested on suspicion of criminal damage. The damage to the police vehicle was estimated by South Wales Police to be approximately £900.

In a court appearance, Fraser pleaded guilty to criminal damage by recklessly endangering life. He received a sentence of three years in prison, suspended for three years. Additionally, he was ordered to complete 250 hours of unpaid work and pay over £6,000 in compensation.

South Wales Police shared footage of the incident on social media, highlighting the financial cost of the damage and emphasizing the risks officers face daily. The force noted that danger can sometimes come from unexpected sources.
