A 60-year-old man was kidnapped and subsequently executed in the trunk of a car in Chino Hills, California, in front of law enforcement officers. The victim has been identified as Shukur Aikebaer, a father of three.
Authorities identified the suspect as 67-year-old Zhengfeng Bo of Irvine, who was also Aikebaer's employer. An accomplice, 66-year-old Jianquan Bo, has been taken into custody on charges of murder and kidnapping. The incident unfolded when Aikebaer's wife and daughter were home.
According to a law enforcement source, Zhengfeng Bo and an accomplice allegedly cut the power to Aikebaer's residence. Aikebaer went outside to investigate the power box, at which point he was kidnapped. Officials believe the perpetrators may have been taking Aikebaer to a remote location to kill him or to deliver him to someone else.
Witnesses reported the abduction and alerted authorities, leading to a police chase. The suspects' vehicle eventually stopped on a residential street. As deputies watched, Zhengfeng Bo exited the car, opened the trunk, and shot Aikebaer. Deputies then returned fire, killing Zhengfeng Bo. Jianquan Bo was apprehended following the incident.
Business records indicate that Zhengfeng Bo was the owner of Panshi, a limited liability firm where both he and Aikebaer were employed. Aikebaer also reportedly served as a middleman for Zhengfeng Bo in a $20 million apartment complex deal in Pasadena. Zhengfeng Bo had been in a legal dispute with former managers of the complex, alleging they were preventing him from taking control of the property.
Aikebaer's family has launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise $100,000 for funeral expenses and to compensate for the loss of his income. As of Saturday morning, the campaign had raised nearly $30,000. His eldest daughter, Zilana, described her father as "the greatest father ever" and "the best person."
