Authorities have charged Benjamin Larson, 47, with stalking a woman he met only a few times, after discovering a disturbing collection of items at his Wisconsin home. The cache included human skulls, a skeleton in a glass coffin, a silicone sex doll, and a jar reportedly containing a piece of serial killer John Wayne Gacy's brain, according to court documents.
Larson has been charged with stalking as investigators work to determine if any of the remains are authentic and linked to other crimes. The unidentified woman told police last month that Larson had been stalking her since June 2013, when she agreed to allow him to make a "body cast" of her at his Madison, Wisconsin, residence. They dated briefly but broke off the relationship after Larson made suicidal threats.
The accuser moved to Canada to escape him, but Larson continued to contact her through disturbing emails and sent letters to her mother. In a 2015 email, he wrote that he had a tattoo of her initials to ensure she could "never go away."
Police searched Larson's rural Fond du Lac home on August 14, where they found "a set of skeletal remains in a glass casket" and "a human skull in a glass display." In his basement, officers discovered 10 binders dedicated to serial killer Edward Gein, along with items allegedly taken from Gein's home and grave. The basement also contained various poisons and bullets matching those used by the Zodiac Killer.
A locked bedroom in the basement held a painting of a naked woman resembling the accuser, positioned over a lifelike silicone sex doll. Notes addressed to the accuser were also found. Shelves in the bedroom displayed five human skulls, one partial skull, and a human jawbone on a dresser.
Investigators are collaborating with anthropologists to verify the authenticity of the remains, though many are believed to be from the ancient Native American period. Larson also possessed a 25-page portfolio with handwritten notes about his accuser, expressing anger about her new partner and child. He described watching his ex-lover's movements from his car while dressed in black with a mask.
Larson faces 42 months in prison if convicted of stalking. His court appearance is scheduled for September 11.
