Man Charged With Murder After Woman Found Dead in Portsmouth

A 48-year-old man has been charged with murder after a 74-year-old woman was found dead following reports of a domestic incident. Carole Langley's body was discovered at a property on Cyprus Road in Portsmouth on Monday morning.

Hampshire Police were called to the address shortly before 10 a.m. on September 14 following a report of a domestic incident. Ms. Langley was pronounced dead at the scene.

Scott Langley, 48, of Southsea in Hampshire, has been charged with murder. He is currently in police custody and is scheduled to appear at Portsmouth Magistrates Court on Tuesday morning.

Ms. Langley's next of kin has been informed and is being supported by specialist officers. A spokesperson for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary confirmed the charge and the ongoing investigation into the death.

A mandatory referral has been made to the Independent Office for Police Conduct concerning the force's response to the incident.
