A Long Island man, identified as Kelly Marcucci, has been arrested and charged with interference with a professional sporting event and trespassing after he ran onto the field at Yankee Stadium waving a Palestinian flag during a game commemorating the 25th anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks. The incident occurred in the seventh inning of the Yankees' 6-4 victory over the Mets on Friday.
Stadium security tackled Marcucci, 38, as the crowd chanted "USA! USA!" He was wearing a baseball jersey with the words "No Kings" across the front, a phrase associated with critics of President Donald Trump.
Prior to the game, Marcucci posted on his Facebook page, which has since been deactivated, expressing criticism of President Trump and podcaster Joe Rogan. He also wrote about the perceived evils of capitalism and Saudi Arabia's alleged involvement in the 9/11 attacks.
Investigators verified a deactivated OnlyFans account belonging to Marcucci. His profile picture on the account showed him shirtless with a tattoo on his biceps that matched a tattoo visible on his arm during the field intrusion. The OnlyFans bio stated a passion for social equality and identified him as a "revisionist-Marxist." He also claimed to have a degree in communications and was pursuing a journalism degree. Marcucci stated on OnlyFans that he created the page as a "joke" to examine societal judgment of individuals who choose to create such accounts.
The game itself was a somber occasion, marking 25 years since the terrorist attacks that killed nearly 3,000 people. The Yankees held a pregame ceremony to honor the victims, with members of the 2001 team, including Derek Jeter, Jorge Posada, Paul O'Neill, Tino Martinez, Scott Brosius, and Mariano Rivera, participating in tributes. Jeter, along with current captain Aaron Judge and pitcher Gerrit Cole, also laid a wreath at the 9/11 monument in Monument Park.
