Daejon Love, who is accused of impersonating a San Francisco 49ers player to defraud women, appeared in a jail-issued orange top in a newly released mugshot following his arrest. The 35-year-old was taken into custody in Idaho for allegedly stealing over $1 million from numerous victims.

Love was arrested at Boise Airport on Aug. 24 and is being held while awaiting transfer to Oregon, where he faces two federal charges: conspiracy to commit wire fraud and wire fraud. According to federal prosecutors, Love and an 18-year-old accomplice, Taylor Chan, operated a scheme from February 2022 until Love's arrest, convincing 26 women to send them money. In a criminal complaint, authorities alleged Love told women he met on dating apps that he was a wide receiver for the 49ers and encouraged them to invest money with him. Chan allegedly posed as Love's financial advisor to further the deception.

In total, Love and Chan are accused of stealing $1.3 million from their victims. Federal prosecutors stated in a court filing that Love is considered a serious flight risk. His next court date will be scheduled once he is transferred to Oregon. Chan has been released pending trial and is set for an initial appearance in Oregon on September 10. Both wire fraud and conspiracy to commit wire fraud charges carry a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison.
