A man identified as Anthony Jones, 56, died following a violent street brawl involving approximately 20 men in Pontnewynydd, south Wales, on August 6. Police have launched a murder investigation into the altercation, which they believe was sparked by a turf war between rival motorcycle clubs, the Vikings and the Hells Angels.

Mr. Jones, known to his family as Tony, was discovered face down in an alleyway with a severe head wound. Residents attempted to provide first aid until paramedics arrived, but he later died in hospital. His family described him as a "much-loved husband and devoted dad" and a doting grandfather.

"To us, he wasn't a name in a news story – he was our Anthony, and the hole he has left in our family is impossible to put into words," his family said in a statement. "He was incredibly hardworking and always made sure his family was provided for."

Two other individuals were taken to the hospital following the incident. Reports from residents indicated that some participants were armed with weapons including machetes, axes, and knives. Forensic officers were seen examining the scene outside the Pontnewynydd Sports and Social Club.

Ten individuals, aged between 31 and 73, have been arrested in connection with the brawl. Three have since been released on bail. Gwent Police are also seeking to identify and speak with a 40-year-old man named Anthony Paul Jones and are looking to trace a blue Ford Transit van.

Evidence suggests Mr. Jones had ties to the Hells Angels motorcycle club, including a tattoo on his hand with the initials 'AFFA', widely understood to stand for 'Angels forever, forever angels', and social media posts referencing "Support 81 Nomads Wales." The number 81 is a known nickname for the Hells Angels.

Detective Superintendent Laura Bartley stated that the investigation is progressing rapidly and that detectives are working to establish the full circumstances of the incident, including the movements of those involved. She assured the public that officers are working to identify and apprehend those responsible.

Authorities are appealing for anyone with information to contact Gwent Police or Crimestoppers anonymously.
