The Los Angeles Lakers have new ownership, with businessmen Josh Kushner and former Disney executive Bob Iger purchasing the iconic NBA franchise for approximately $12.5 billion. This sale occurred less than 18 months after Mark Walter acquired the team for $10 billion.

Lakers legend Magic Johnson has voiced his optimism about the change in ownership, stating his confidence that the new stewards will bring championships back to Los Angeles. "Laker fans, you couldn’t have two better owners," Johnson wrote on social media. "I’ve known Bob personally for over 40 years – he has always loved the Lakers and basketball and he will bring championships back to LA."

Johnson, who was part of the ownership group that purchased the Los Angeles Dodgers for $2.15 billion in 2012, previously served as the Lakers' President of Basketball Operations. During his 13-season playing career with the Lakers, Johnson secured five championships and is widely regarded as one of the greatest point guards in NBA history.

The team's current roster includes players such as Luka Doncic, Austin Reaves, and Walker Kessler. The franchise's championship prospects under the new ownership will be a key focus for fans and analysts alike.
