Macy's will significantly expand its annual Fourth of July fireworks display to commemorate the 250th birthday of the United States. This year's celebration will launch more than 85,000 shells from both the Hudson and East Rivers, a departure from previous years that typically utilized a single river.

"We are proud to celebrate our 50th anniversary with a once in a generation experience filled with emotional storytelling and signature spectacle to connect millions of people nationwide," said Sharon Otterman, chief marketing officer for Macy's, in a statement.

The two-hour special will begin at 8 p.m. ET, with the fireworks show slated to commence around 9:25 p.m. ET. The event will be broadcast live on NBC. For those looking to stream the display, it will also be available on Peacock, with subscription costs starting at $16.99 per month after a seven-day free trial.

This year's event will be hosted by actor Terry Crews and will feature performances by artists including Alexia Jayy, Noah Kahan, Post Malone, Bebe Rexha, Salt-n-Pepa, Shaboozey, and Blake Shelton.

Public viewing areas for the East River portion of the fireworks will be accessible along the FDR Drive. For viewers wishing to watch from home without a traditional cable subscription, DIRECTV is offering a five-day free trial that can provide access to NBC as part of its channel lineup.
