Luke Wilson, 54, has become a father for the first time, welcoming a daughter with his girlfriend of more than three years, Kendall Yates, 24. The couple made their first public appearance with their baby on Tuesday, July 7, at a press reception for Wilson's upcoming Netflix comedy series, The Hawk.
At the event, held at The Resort at Pelican Hill in Newport Beach, California, Wilson and Yates were observed holding their infant in a carrier and introducing the newborn to guests and Wilson's castmates, including Jimmy Tatro. The news was reported by People magazine.
While the couple had not publicly confirmed the pregnancy, Yates appeared to be displaying a baby bump in photographs taken in April. Representatives for Wilson have not yet responded to requests for comment.
Wilson had previously expressed a desire to become a father. In a 2019 interview, he stated, "I'm 47, I'm ready for that. I need to get to work." Ahead of his 50th birthday in 2021, he told People magazine that he was beginning to understand the concept of a "midlife crisis," noting changes in his physical well-being and memory.
Prior to his relationship with Yates, which began in early 2023, Wilson dated several notable figures, including Gwyneth Paltrow for about a year in 2001 and Drew Barrymore from 1997 to 1999. Barrymore confirmed in 2022 that their relationship, which began while filming the 1997 film Best Men, was an open one.
