Attorneys for Luigi Mangione, who is accused of killing United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson, are scheduled to meet with federal prosecutors on Friday. This meeting is in anticipation of a potential plea agreement, according to media reports.

Mangione faces two federal charges of stalking resulting in death. Each charge carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment. The specific charges under discussion were not immediately clear.

In addition to the federal charges, Mangione is also facing a separate state trial for Thompson's death. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges in both the federal and state cases.
