Liverpool has reached an agreement to sign Paris Saint-Germain forward Bradley Barcola in a deal potentially worth up to £123 million. The initial agreement is for £106 million, with an additional £17 million in potential add-ons. The 23-year-old French attacker is expected to undergo a medical this weekend and sign a long-term contract at Anfield.
Barcola, who is right-footed but primarily plays on the left wing, was initially valued by PSG at £145 million. His impending arrival at Anfield raises questions about the future of current Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo. Multiple sources have indicated that both Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City have expressed interest in the Netherlands international.
Liverpool's pursuit of Barcola is part of their strategy to strengthen their attacking lineup, following the departures of Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah in the past two summers. The club has also been exploring moves for other wingers, including Yankuba Minteh of Brighton and Ismaila Sarr of Crystal Palace.
Barcola joined PSG from Lyon in 2023 for a reported fee of £38.5 million. During his time at PSG, he has won three Ligue 1 titles, two Champions Leagues, two French Cups, the UEFA Super Cup, and the FIFA Intercontinental Cup. He also scored three goals for France in the recent World Cup.
Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola addressed questions about Gakpo's future prior to a match against Nottingham Forest, stating that while he "cannot guarantee anything," he wishes to retain the 27-year-old. Iraola noted Gakpo's positive attitude and influence in recent games since his return from the World Cup and holiday.
