Lindsay Clancy told a psychiatrist that she heard a male voice command her to kill her children and herself before she strangled them with an exercise band and attempted suicide, according to testimony revealed in court.
Dr. Avram Mack, a psychiatrist who evaluated Clancy for the state in April 2026, testified Friday during her murder trial about the events preceding the 2023 killings. Mack stated that Clancy reported hearing a voice say, "You should kill the kids. This is your last chance so you can kill yourself."
According to Mack's testimony, Clancy first took her son Dawson to the basement, placed an exercise band around his neck, and strangled him while repeatedly saying, "Go to God." She then proceeded to strangle her other children, Cora and Callan, before going to her bedroom.
Once in the bedroom, Clancy took medication, cut her wrists and neck, and then cut through a window screen to fall from the window in an apparent suicide attempt, Mack testified.
Mack stated that after the murders and her suicide attempt, Clancy awoke "overcome with immediate horror and shame," which he interpreted as indicators that she knew her actions were wrong.
"The deaths were done one by one in a way that was organized and tended to achieve a particular goal," Mack explained. "Her attempt at suicide was also organized in that it included as many methods as possible."
The psychiatrist also testified that he believed Clancy had the capacity to be held criminally responsible for the "methodical" killings of her three children.
Regarding Clancy's final words to her children, Mack testified that the phrase "Go to God" was not only a hope for them but also a description of the situation she perceived.
