Jurors in the trial of Lindsay Clancy, who faces charges in the strangling deaths of her three young children, have begun to speak out following the declaration of a mistrial. The jury, composed of nine women and three men, deadlocked after deliberations, with the final vote being 11-1.

One juror, identified as Juror No. 5 by WBZ-TV, stated that the "stand-alone juror" was not the only one who initially believed Clancy was guilty. "There were some big personalities in the room, but at the end of the day, it just came down to an inability to move past your convictions," she told the outlet. She also acknowledged that she herself had initially favored a guilty verdict, though she later questioned Clancy's mental state, suggesting, "I think that this is a woman who was not mentally healthy."

Another group of three jurors, including the jury foreperson, spoke with NBC 10 Boston, describing the lone holdout juror as "arrogant." According to them, this juror admitted to having reasonable doubt but refused to change his stance, insisting Clancy was criminally responsible for the deaths of her children, Cora, Dawson, and Callan. These jurors also accused the holdout of disregarding input from nurses on the jury.

The trial, which centered on whether Clancy was criminally responsible for her actions at the time of the deaths in January 2023, saw the defense argue she was not due to postpartum psychosis. Jurors deliberated for a full week, reporting they were deadlocked on multiple occasions. The mistrial was declared on Friday afternoon after Judge William Sullivan denied a request from Clancy's defense attorney, Kevin Reddington, to remove the holdout juror. The jury list has since been impounded by the judge due to privacy and safety concerns.
