Lamar Odom has shared new details about his past struggles with substance abuse, recounting an instance where his then-mother-in-law, Kris Jenner, intervened after finding him under the influence of drugs at another woman's home. Odom expressed gratitude for the Kardashian-Jenner family's efforts to help him during his addiction.
In an interview on the show "Nothing's Off The Table with Louis Ruggiero," Odom described a situation where he was married to Khloe Kardashian and went on a trip to Big Bear with another woman. He revealed that while on the way to the mountain, he was using cocaine. The woman he was with eventually contacted Khloe to inform her of their whereabouts and Odom's drug use.
Odom stated that Khloe and Kris Jenner arrived at the woman's home, where he was consuming cocaine. He recalled Jenner calling him by his nickname, "Lammy," before he realized she was there. He described himself as being "f**ked up" at the time.
Following this discovery, Odom recounted that six SUVs were waiting outside to take him to a rehabilitation facility in San Diego. He was informed that the intervention was an attempt to protect him and, he acknowledged, to shield the "brand."
During his time in rehab, Odom used the pseudonym "Joseph," though he recognized the ineffectiveness of this given his public profile. He is now appreciative of the Kardashians' actions, stating, "My heart was just broken and getting stronger at the same time. I'm grateful for that family for trying to take care of me as best as they can."
Odom's marriage to Khloe Kardashian began in 2009, and their relationship was documented in the reality show "Khloe & Lamar." Their marriage faced public scrutiny due to Odom's highly publicized battles with drug addiction. He was found unconscious at a Las Vegas brothel in 2015 following a near-fatal overdose, an event that led to his hospitalization and Khloe temporarily withdrawing her divorce filing to support his recovery.
Their divorce was finalized in December 2016. The Netflix docuseries "Untold: The Death & Life of Lamar Odom," released in March, also revisits this period of his life with interviews from both Odom and Khloe.
