The organizing committee for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic and Paralympic Games began accepting volunteer applications on Tuesday. Organizers are seeking approximately 60,000 volunteers to support various roles during the event.

The volunteer program, presented by Delta Air Lines, will encompass roles in communications, driving, experience management, medical services, ceremonies, operations, sports, and technology. Volunteers will be instrumental in bringing the Games to life.

The application process involves five steps: submitting an online application, completing a teamwork-focused assessment either virtually or in person, passing a background check, undergoing role-specific training, and finally receiving official uniforms and badges.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old and possess English language proficiency. Selected volunteers will need to commit to 10 non-consecutive shifts, each lasting eight hours. These shifts will occur during the Olympic Games period, from March 2028 to August 2028, and for the Paralympic Games, from August to September 2028.

Volunteers chosen for Games-time roles will work at venues located in Greater Los Angeles, with some events also taking place in Oklahoma City. The LA28 Games are scheduled to run from July 14-30, 2028, with the Paralympic Games following from August 15-27, 2028. The event plans to utilize existing venues across Southern California, including the LA Memorial Coliseum and SoFi Stadium.

There are two primary volunteer tracks: preparing the local community in the lead-up to the Games, or fulfilling direct Games-time roles. Online applications are currently open, and the submission order will not influence selection.
