Kyle Sandilands experienced a wave of emotion while watching a clip of a 2020 interview with his former co-host Jackie 'O' Henderson for a trailer promoting the second episode of his new docuseries. The veteran presenter, 55, was seen wiping away tears as he reflected on his challenges since their departure from the KIIS FM show.
In the archived footage from a 60 Minutes interview, Henderson questioned their longevity, asking, "Did I think we would last 20 years?" Sandilands is heard responding, "Never in my wildest dreams did I think we would even last 20 minutes!" Henderson also expressed concerns about Sandilands' on-air commentary, stating, "I always get very nervous you are going to say something that will one day just ruin you. I feel like I always have to talk over him to stop him from going to a place, where he doesn't get that if you go there, this is going to become a thing." Sandilands retorted in the clip, "F**k it, I say!" as he joked about continuing their show "forever and ever."
Henderson indicated a desire to continue the show "until one of us dies," to which Sandilands quipped, "That will probably be me!"
The docuseries trailer also features Sandilands acknowledging the support of his wife, Tegan, during the difficult period following the termination of his and Henderson's reported $100 million contracts by ARN. "My wife Tegan has been great through all of this... which is great. Because if you haven't got the support in the house, that can break someone, I think," he shared.
The clip, shared on social media with the caption "The second ep of At Home With Kyle gets emotional. Streaming Wednesday at 6PM exclusively on KSlive.com.au #kslive #kyleandjackieo," has garnered supportive comments from followers who miss the duo's on-air partnership.
This emotional reflection comes after reports suggested a reconciliation between Sandilands and Henderson is unlikely following an on-air dispute in February concerning Henderson's interest in astrology. Their show, "The Kyle & Jackie O Show," was subsequently canceled. Sandilands reportedly settled his legal dispute with ARN for $12.09 million of his initial $85 million claim.
In a teaser for his docuseries, "At Home With Kyle," which chronicles the turmoil in his life after his dismissal, Sandilands indicated he would address the events between him and Henderson. "I've sort of had to mostly, in my mind, close that chapter," he said, adding, "This isn't a taking sides thing. I'll always love her. She's like a sister to me. I wish her the best. The last three months, there is quite a lot to say."
The six-episode series, produced by Sandilands' own company, Kyle Sandilands Live, aims to offer a more personal and humble perspective on the presenter, according to his manager, Bruno Bouchet.
