Krispy Kreme is entering the churro market with its new Churro Doughnut Dots, a limited-time offering that appears to be a direct competitor to Costco's recently revived churro treat. These bite-sized doughnuts are made with Krispy Kreme's signature dough, coated in cinnamon and sugar, and served with a dulce de leche dipping sauce.

The Churro Doughnut Dots are part of Krispy Kreme's expanded fall lineup, which also includes returning favorites like the Pumpkin Spice Cake Doughnut and Biscoff Cookie Butter Doughnut. New additions to the seasonal menu are the Maple Cheesecake Doughnut and the Cafe Mocha Doughnut. Accompanying these treats are fall-themed beverages, such as the Pumpkin Spice Latte and Apple Crisp Latte.

The introduction of Krispy Kreme's churro-inspired dessert comes shortly after Costco announced the return of its own churro offering to its food courts. However, Costco's version, priced at $1.49, is a "Twisted Churro" and has reportedly received mixed reviews from customers who feel it lacks the crunch of the original.

Some Costco members have expressed disappointment with the new twisted version, citing its increased price and a texture described as "too bready." This dissatisfaction may create an opening for Krispy Kreme's more traditional, poppable churro alternative.

The Churro Doughnut Dots will be available starting September 22 in Krispy Kreme stores, via drive-thru, and for pickup or delivery through the company's app and website. The company has also recently collaborated with other brands, including Girl Scout Cookies, for special donut flavors.
