KJ Biermann, the 15-year-old son of Kim Zolciak and Kroy Biermann, has been released on a $200,000 bond following his arrest on charges related to a sex assault case involving a female classmate. Fulton County Superior Court Judge Melynee Leftridge granted the bond order in a Georgia court on Friday, nearly a month after the teen's August 17 arrest.
Under the conditions of his release, Biermann must remain at his mother's home and attend school virtually. He is also prohibited from using social media and cellphones, and will be subject to electronic monitoring. Furthermore, he is barred from any contact, direct or indirect, with the alleged victim, her family, or anyone under the age of 16.
The alleged incident occurred on April 23 at a Life Time fitness center in Alpharetta, Georgia. Biermann was indicted by a grand jury on seven felony charges. These include aggravated child molestation, aggravated sodomy, aggravated sexual battery, three counts of sexual battery against a child under 16, and false imprisonment.
During the Friday court hearing, Deputy District Attorney Caitlin McGillicuddy stated that Biermann had previously been charged with sexual battery of a minor in October 2025, six months before the alleged incident in question. That prior case was adjudicated in juvenile court, and Biermann is currently under court supervision until 2027.
KJ Biermann's attorney, Jason Sheffield, denied the prosecution's characterizations of the prior juvenile matter, stating that it involved "inappropriate, crude behavior involving two middle-schoolers" and did not result in an adjudication for statutory rape or comparable offenses. Sheffield described the current situation as "traumatizing" for his client, characterizing him as a "somewhat quiet" teenager.
McGillicuddy countered that the alleged victim in the April case suffered "documented physical injury" and described the incident as "predatory."
Earlier in the week, Sheffield filed a request to transfer Biermann's case to Georgia's juvenile justice system, arguing that the teen is young enough for rehabilitation, despite facing a potential 25-year prison sentence. His parents, Kim Zolciak and Kroy Biermann, attended the bond hearing together, despite their ongoing contentious divorce proceedings.
Last month, Zolciak publicly maintained her son's innocence, stating that he categorically denies the allegations and has passed a voluntary polygraph examination regarding the claims. She also stated that an examination found no DNA belonging to her son at the scene. Zolciak expressed confidence that the facts and evidence would establish the truth.
