A court hearing for Kroy Jr. Biermann, the 15-year-old son of reality television personality Kim Zolciak, has been abruptly canceled. Biermann, known as KJ, is currently detained at Atlanta's Metro Regional Youth Detention Center following his indictment on seven felony charges in a sexual assault case. The reason for the hearing's cancellation on Tuesday was not provided.

KJ Biermann's attorney, Jason Sheffield, confirmed the cancellation, explaining that the state's indictment, filed on Thursday, September 3, has become the primary legal action. Sheffield stated that the judge who was scheduled to preside over the preliminary hearing has had their authority divested due to the indictment. "We will have several court dates coming up, including a motion to transfer the case to juvenile court, a bond hearing, and an arraignment on the current indictment," Sheffield said.

The indictment includes charges of aggravated child molestation, aggravated sodomy, aggravated sexual battery, three counts of sexual battery against a child under 16, and false imprisonment. These charges stem from an alleged incident involving a female classmate at a Life Time fitness center in Alpharetta, Georgia, on April 23.

According to Sheffield, the state intends to try KJ as an adult, a matter that was to be addressed in the now-canceled hearing. The defense plans to enter not guilty pleas on October 14 and will file a motion to transfer the case to juvenile court. A bond hearing is scheduled for Friday, September 11.

Sheffield has expressed concern over the length of time the teenager has been held in detention awaiting a bond hearing, attributing it to the severity of the charges. He noted that the nature of the charges limits options for considering the detainee's age or juvenile status.

KJ Biermann has denied all allegations. His mother, Kim Zolciak, has previously stated that her son passed a polygraph examination related to the accusations and that no DNA belonging to him was found. The alleged victim reported the incident to authorities on April 24, with police opening an investigation shortly thereafter.

Zolciak and Kroy Biermann, a former NFL player, divorced in 2023. The legal proceedings surrounding KJ Biermann's case occur amidst ongoing legal disputes between his parents concerning child custody.
