A newborn kitten was discovered by employees at Peterson Health in Kerrville, Texas, after it had traveled approximately 76 miles inside the engine of an SUV. The vehicle's owner, an employee of the nonprofit, had driven from Rocksprings to Kerrville.

Staff members heard the kitten crying when they were leaving work. Connie Martinez, a Peterson Health staffer, alerted another colleague, and they immediately took action to locate the sound. To reach the kitten, which was lodged in the engine bay, hospital workers removed the front grille of the vehicle. Assistance was provided by Kerrville Pets Alive, a nonprofit organization focused on rescuing animals from euthanasia, and an animal control officer.

Kerrville Pets Alive is now caring for the kitten. The organization provided an update on social media, stating the kitten is safe, warm, and being fed. Commenters on the social media posts expressed gratitude to those involved in the rescue and marveled at the kitten's survival.
