Actor Anthony Anderson, filling in as guest host for Jimmy Kimmel, speculated that former President Donald Trump may have recently begun wearing a wig. The comment came about five minutes into Anderson's first day hosting the show, during which a clip of Trump sporting a new, fuller hairstyle in Las Vegas was shown.

"I mean, to be honest, I've seen better weaves on Real Housewives of Atlanta," Anderson quipped. He pointed out that the hairstyle had generated numerous memes online. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt had previously told The Wall Street Journal that "Lighting is everything" in response to speculation about the former president's hair.

Anderson, however, disagreed with the lighting explanation. He showed a graphic of a wig available on Amazon, stating that Trump's new hairdo looked similar to the $15 item. The wig was described as "Donald Trump wig for adults and kids, one size fits most."

Anderson's remarks contributed to a wave of online commentary and AI-generated images that depicted Trump with various exaggerated hairstyles. Previously, photos from before and after the Las Vegas appearance showed Trump's hair appearing noticeably thinner. The former president has, in the past, invited people to touch his hair, including NBC's Jimmy Fallon in 2016. In 2020, his administration reversed a ban on certain strong showerheads in the White House, with Trump stating at the time, "My hair… has to be perfect."

Later on Monday, during an event in the Oval Office, Trump's hair appeared to have returned to its more familiar state. A White House spokesperson, Davis Ingle, responded to Anderson's comments by saying, "Nobody in their right mind cares what out-of-touch, woke Hollywood celebrities have to say."
