Kim Zolciak's 15-year-old son, KJ Biermann, faces a "close, close monitoring" reality if released from jail as he awaits trial on aggravated child molestation, aggravated sodomy, and sexual battery charges. According to former prosecutor Lindsay Richards, an expert on sexual assault cases not involved in the Biermann case, KJ could be placed on GPS monitoring, house arrest, and required to attend school remotely.
Richards suggested that KJ's continued detention, despite his age, might indicate a strong case against him. "Not releasing him into the custody of his parents with electronic monitoring of some kind, that surprises me for this young of a kid," she told Page Six. The expert also anticipates prosecutors will attempt to try KJ as an adult.
The indictment stems from an alleged incident on April 23 at a Georgia fitness club, where KJ is accused of forcing a female classmate into sexual acts without her consent. His attorney, Jason Sheffield, has asserted KJ's "100% innocence" and claimed to possess evidence to support his client's defense. Sheffield also stated that KJ voluntarily took a polygraph test, which reportedly showed no deception.
Zolciak, through a representative, has vehemently denied the allegations, calling them "reckless and deeply troubling" and stating her son "categorically denies ever being involved with this woman or engaging in the conduct she has alleged."
KJ's legal team has sought his release, citing his academic and athletic achievements, as well as his community and family ties. He is currently being held at Atlanta’s Metro Regional Youth Detention Center. His court date is scheduled for September 8.
