Kim Kardashian recently had the unparalleled experience of trying on Elizabeth Taylor's famed emerald and diamond necklace, valued at $12.7 million, during a visit to a Bulgari store in Rome. The appearance marked a notable moment for Kardashian, who has expressed deep admiration for the late Hollywood icon.

Kardashian's stylist, Law Roach, facilitated the exclusive encounter as she began her "All's Fair" press tour. Describing the experience as the "best birthday present ever," Kardashian shared the moment via FaceTime with Roach, who noted the unprecedented nature of the event. Bulgari representatives confirmed that such access is highly unusual.

While Kardashian was presented with the necklace and a pair of similar earrings, the original matching ring, bracelet, and the exact earrings owned by Taylor were not part of this particular viewing. Taylor's husband, Richard Burton, originally gifted her a pendant featuring a 23.46-carat Colombian emerald for her 30th birthday in 1962. This pendant could be attached to a necklace gifted later, in 1964, which featured 16 graduated emeralds totaling nearly 61 carats, surrounded by diamonds.

Further additions to the suite included earrings gifted in 1967, each featuring a pear-shaped Colombian emerald. A bracelet, also from 1967, completed the ensemble. These pieces were sold by Bulgari at a Christie's auction in December 2011, following Taylor's death.

Kardashian shared that she had spoken with Taylor on the phone about the jewelry and had also been inside Taylor's home shortly after her passing, seeing the jewelry in her safe before it was cleared out. Kardashian, who produced a documentary about Taylor titled "Elizabeth Taylor: Rebel Superstar" in October 2025, stated that she draws inspiration from Taylor's "unapologetic personality" and her humanitarian work, particularly in prison reform.
