KIIS FM has announced a significant programming overhaul, signaling a "new era" for the station following the March collapse of "The Kyle and Jackie O Show." The station shared a cryptic social media post featuring silhouettes and the phrase "A new era is coming," leaving listeners to speculate about upcoming changes and new hosts.
This announcement comes amidst escalating legal proceedings involving former hosts Kyle Sandilands and Jackie 'O' Henderson. Sandilands was recently served with a subpoena on air, requesting documents as part of ARN's legal battle with Henderson. Henderson is suing ARN for $82 million in damages.
Sandilands expressed discomfort with the subpoena, stating, "I'm very uncomfortable about that." He indicated he did not want to say anything that might affect Henderson's ongoing legal action. The situation is further complicated by allegations in court documents, which Sandilands claims do not align with his recollection of events. He described reading these claims as "soul destroying."
Henderson's legal filings reference a PTSD diagnosis, which she attributes to "the ongoing bullying perpetrated by Sandilands" and "the failure of ARN to offer appropriate care and protection." A medical report by Dr. Jonathan Phillips details Henderson's condition. In a sworn statement, Henderson stated she was "belittled" and "humiliated" by Sandilands, whom she described as "unpredictable and erratic."
The contract for "The Kyle and Jackie O Show" was terminated in March following a high-profile on-air argument between the co-hosts. KIIS FM has been searching for replacements for Sandilands and Henderson for several months.
