Kerry Katona has joined ITV's "Good Morning Britain" in a new capacity, appearing twice a week for a segment focused on pop culture and light-hearted news. Katona made her debut alongside actor Nigel Havers, with whom she shared a playful exchange, joking they were "the new Ant and Dec."
During their initial appearance, Katona, 45, discussed her perspective on tattoos, viewing them as art and a way to tell a story, noting she has her children's images tattooed. Havers mentioned having a single scorpion tattoo obtained for a television show. The pair also touched upon more serious subjects, including a prisoner early release scheme proposed by Andy Burnham. Katona, having previously spoken about her experiences as a survivor of domestic abuse and living in refuges, expressed significant concern regarding the release of individuals convicted of domestic abuse offenses, stating it is a "terrifying thing for a woman."
Nepotism was another topic addressed, with both Katona and Havers agreeing that it is acceptable to provide opportunities for one's children to begin their careers. Katona humorously referenced Brooklyn Beckham as an example of someone who has not succeeded in a field where nepotism might have been a factor.
ITV executives reportedly aim to incorporate more "relatable voices" into the program, and Katona's selection is attributed to her previous appearances on the show resonating with viewers. This new role follows a recent holiday in Marbella with her boyfriend, Paolo Margaglione, whom she met while filming the E4 series "Celebs Go Dating." The couple plans to relocate to Spain in September, a move that has elicited mixed reactions from Katona's children.
