Country music star Keith Urban is reportedly “absolutely devastated” following reports of his ex-wife Nicole Kidman’s new romance with private equity investor Michael Reinstein. An insider told Australian outlet New Idea that the musician had harbored hopes of reconciliation with Kidman, but seeing her with Reinstein has brought back feelings of loss.

“Up until now, the door had been firmly closed on his relationship with Nicole,” the source claimed. “But now he still had hopes there might be a chance at reconciliation. He’s absolutely devastated and is going through that feeling of deep loss all over again.”

Kidman and Reinstein were photographed together in Portofino, Italy, last month. In the images, the two stood close and chatted outside the actress's hotel. Reinstein is the founder, chairman, and chief investment officer of Regent, a global private equity firm he established in 2013.

The source suggested that Kidman's new relationship might prompt Urban to move on himself. “Seeing Nicole seemingly moving on is permitting him to do the same,” the insider alleged. “Don’t be surprised if Keith steps out with a revenge romance of his own. He knows he has to move on.”

Kidman filed for divorce from Urban in September 2025, after nearly two decades of marriage. The couple share two daughters, Sunday, 18, and Faith, 15. Their divorce was finalized in January.

Following his split from Kidman, Urban was briefly linked to fellow country singer Karley Scott Collins and his guitarist Maggie Baugh. However, both rumored relationships were denied by sources close to Collins and Baugh.

Despite the reported emotional impact on Urban, Kidman and Urban appear to maintain an amicable relationship. In June, Kidman posted a Father's Day tribute to Urban, sharing a photo of him with their daughters. Urban also publicly wished Kidman a happy birthday in the same month.
