Katie Price has made an emotional appeal to her terminally ill mother, Amy, urging her to “find the strength to stay on this earth.” The television personality shared her heartfelt message on Instagram on Sunday night, expressing the profound impact her mother has on her life.
Amy Price, 74, was diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) in 2017. IPF is a chronic lung disease that causes irreversible scarring of the lung's air sacs, making breathing increasingly difficult.
Last week, Katie Price, 48, mentioned on her podcast that her mother was still hospitalized after being admitted in July and was “very poorly at the minute.”
In her Instagram post, Price directly addressed her mother, writing, “please don’t leave me, please find the strength to stay with me longer on this earth your my EVERYTHING.” She continued, emphasizing her mother's support and pride in her achievements, stating, “Your my eyes, my voice, my strength, my absolute Everything.” She added, “You’re a warrior and I’m your baby girl always and you love me through everything and held my hand. I can’t lose you not now not EVER.” Price concluded the personal message by saying, “I’ve NEVER loved anyone so much as you, your my WORLD.”
Price also shared a clip from her recent Sky documentary, "Nothing To Hide," where her mother spoke about their bond. Price captioned the video, “A real mother that I’ve been blessed to have love and guide me through life. There are no words to how much I love you mum. I will continue to make you proud and carry your love. You are my inspiration and I’m forever blessed you are my mother in this world and beyond. Forever loving you.”
Earlier in the weekend, Price posted a photo with her sister Sophie, describing their sisterhood as having been “tested by time, cast by fate, bound by love.”
In July, Price had expressed her fear that her mother might die while filming the documentary. “There were so many times we thought we were gonna lose mum through the filming,” she recalled. “She just keeps battling through and I never thought she’d make the BAFTAs [in February], none of us did.”
Speaking on Good Morning Britain in May, Price had also given an update on her mother's health. When asked by host Susanna Reid how Amy was doing, Price replied, “My mum is poorly,” and added, “Mum, I know you’re watching. I know you’re unwell, but I just want to say that I love you so much. I’m coming to see you tomorrow, so yeah, she’s not well at the moment, really not well. I love you so much mum, you’ll probably be tearing up watching this.” Amy had also battled an infection just two months prior.
Last year, Price described Amy's ongoing health challenges as “frustrating,” noting that while her mother was “still switched on,” she was unable to engage in her former activities. On their podcast, "The Katie Price Show," Price explained that her mother had good days and bad days, and that it was difficult for Amy to accept her limitations. Price recounted instances where her mother would jest about needing a walker or wheelchair for outings, highlighting the contrast between her active mind and physical constraints.
When Amy was initially diagnosed with IPF in 2017, doctors estimated she had a life expectancy of up to five years. In 2022, Price mentioned that her mother had only had “two weeks left to live” before finding a lung donor.
Amy herself provided an update in November 2024 to the Daily Star, describing her recovery as a slow process with setbacks, but stated she was moving in the right direction. She noted the importance of exercise to help her transplanted lung function, despite initial breathlessness.
This period has also been challenging for Price personally, as it was revealed earlier this month that her fourth marriage had ended after she discovered her husband, Lee Andrews, had minimal funds in his account despite claims of being a millionaire.
