Katie Price has described her current marriage to Lee Andrews as the "healthiest relationship" she has experienced, citing his financial independence as a key factor. Speaking on Josh Smith's Great Chat Show podcast, Price, 48, explained that her relationship with Andrews differs from past partnerships because he is not reliant on her finances.
"He's got his own thing going on, he's very intelligent, and he's older," Price said of her husband. "I'm comfy, he's not in and out of my pockets. I'm just used to men who end up being like a puppy dog, no conversation, no get up and go, no drive, and in the end they become my sixth child."
Price, who has been married four times previously, stated that she has undergone relationship therapy to understand healthy dynamics and identify toxic patterns. "I always needed a man. Nowadays I don't need a man. If I want a man, it's because I want them, not because I need them," she added.
Her marriage to Andrews, a supposed Dubai-based businessman, followed a one-week romance. Andrews has since been arrested and imprisoned for fraud, but Price has publicly supported him.
Reflections on Gareth Gates
The podcast appearance also touched on Price's past relationship with pop singer Gareth Gates, whose appearance in her new Sky docuseries prompted reflection. Price was 21 and pregnant with her son Harvey when she had a relationship with Gates, then 17. The relationship's public disclosure led to Gates denying it, a denial that Price said hurt her and led her to reveal details of their romance in an interview at the time.
"I would want to say sorry to him," Price said of Gates. "Looking back, I wish I never put the story out there, and I'm sorry it hurt him." She also expressed regret over sharing intimate details of their relationship, stating, "If I could turn back time I wish I never took his virginity for his sake."
Gates, in the forthcoming docuseries, described Price as "amazing" and "very soft," sensing vulnerability in her that he related to. He acknowledged feeling "feelings of love" for Price at the time but admitted he was likely too young to fully comprehend the emotions. He also recounted being advised by his management that confirming a relationship with Price would be "career-ending" due to her public persona.
