Kate Middleton is reportedly no longer attempting to mediate between her husband, Prince William, and his estranged brother, Prince Harry, according to several royal experts. The Princess of Wales is said to be prioritizing her family's well-being and wants to avoid being drawn into what they describe as the "Sussex circus."
Christopher Andersen, author of "Kate!," told Fox News Digital that the Princess of Wales has reached her limit. "Kate is no longer in the business of trying to reunite the brothers," Andersen stated. "It really is a year of magical thinking when people seriously suggest that the Princess of Wales has the emotional bandwidth to cope with the Sussexes."
British broadcaster and photographer Helena Chard echoed this sentiment, stating that her sources do not believe Catherine is pushing for Prince William to meet Prince Harry. "She isn’t pushing for a meeting," Chard said. "She is, however, the one royal who could soften things emotionally, hence the reason Princess Catherine, 'the peacemaker,' keeps rearing her head."
Chard added that the prevailing feeling within the Wales camp is that Catherine will not allow her family, particularly William, to be "sucked back into the Sussex drama." She characterized the public spectacle surrounding the Sussexes as "tiresome and, frankly, not good for the Wales family’s well-being."
Prince Harry's recent visit to the U.K. has been marked by controversy. His spokesperson initially claimed an offer for him to stay at Buckingham Palace was withdrawn after he accepted it, a narrative disputed by palace sources who stated Harry failed to respond by the deadline. Harry also reportedly decided against bringing his wife, Meghan Markle, and their children due to security arrangements, leading to his arrival in London alone.
Royal editor Russell Myers reported that King Charles III has no plans to alter his schedule to meet with Harry during this visit. Myers noted that the King, who is undergoing cancer treatment, has had limited time with Prince Archie and has only met Princess Lilibet once.
Chard suggested that if reconciliation were Harry's true goal, he might have arranged a more private family visit. "The feeling inside the Wales camp is that Catherine will not allow her family, and especially William, to be sucked back into the Sussex drama," Chard shared. "The Sussex circus of briefings, counter-briefings and public spectacle is seen as tiresome and, frankly, not good for the Wales family’s well-being."
Hilary Fordwich, a British royal expert, stated that Prince William is resolute in his opposition to any reconciliation, and Princess Catherine supports her husband's stance. "Given Prince William’s stance, it is highly unlikely that Princess Catherine has been pressing him for a reconciliation," Fordwich told Fox News Digital. "She, too, suffered from all of Harry’s disclosures in ‘Spare.’ She, along with many, is beyond frustrated at Harry’s shenanigans, given the debacle around his stay."
Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams commented that the trip was fraught with issues before Harry's arrival. "Princess Catherine would support whatever William decided in dealing with his brother," Fitzwilliams said. "Looking at the chaos the visit has become, it isn’t difficult to see why William and Catherine are certain to stay out of it. If the Sussexes were sincere, it would be private."
According to Andersen, a previous turning point for Kate was Harry's comments regarding the King's mortality, made shortly after King Charles' cancer diagnosis. Andersen reported that Kate felt this was a hurtful remark and that she was "done with Harry."
