Television presenter Kate Garraway recently adopted a distinctive look, evoking the beloved Coronation Street character Hilda Ogden, as she arrived at the BBC.
Garraway, 59, was photographed sporting pink floral maxi dress and with her hair still set in rollers. The ensemble brought to mind Hilda Ogden, a character known for her curlers and pinny, who was a fixture on the long-running British soap opera from 1964 to 1987. The role was famously played by Jean Alexander.
Garraway appeared to be in good spirits as she headed for an appearance on the BBC's Sunday With Laura Kuenssberg program. Under one arm, she carried the Sunday papers.
According to reports, the presenter often arrives at television studios in the early hours with her hair in rollers. This practice is reportedly a method to maintain her hairstyle for camera-ready appearances, keeping the rollers in until the last possible moment to ensure her blow-dry remains intact.
The fashion choice, while striking, is a practical one for Garraway, who has been seen in similar styles before television appearances. The look has become a recognizable element associated with her early morning arrivals at broadcast studios.
