Karoline Leavitt, the former White House Press Secretary, has announced a new role within the MAGA Inc. super PAC, a political action committee aligned with former President Donald Trump. Leavitt stepped down from her position as press secretary after becoming a mother for the second time in May.
Leavitt, 28, who became a prominent figure during Trump's second term, making frequent appearances at press briefings, confirmed her move to the PAC in an announcement made on board Air Force One. The exact title she will hold at MAGA Inc. has not yet been disclosed. The PAC is reportedly preparing to allocate $350 million for campaign funding in the upcoming midterm elections.
Leavitt stated that balancing the demands of her role as press secretary with her family life had become unsustainable. "Being a mother and welcoming a new baby while working in one of the most demanding jobs in the world has been the most rewarding yet challenging season of my life," she said in a statement. "The truth is since returning to the White House after the birth of my daughter, I have felt in my heart that I cannot be the best mom my two young children deserve while devoting the constant time, energy, and attention required of the White House Press Secretary."
She had returned to work on July 16 after giving birth to her daughter in May, having previously welcomed a son two years prior with her husband, Nicholas Riccio. Sources close to Leavitt indicated that she had been contemplating her departure during her maternity leave, with President Trump frequently inquiring about her return.
Following her return from maternity leave, Leavitt reportedly realized quickly that she no longer wished to continue in the demanding role. Trump expressed his understanding and respect for her decision, calling Leavitt "one of the best White House press secretaries in the history of the office" on Truth Social. He also commented on the high volume of interest in the press secretary position, joking with reporters that some of them might be candidates to replace her.
