Karl Stefanovic has seemingly admitted to striking cricketer Michael Clarke during the widely reported Noosa Brawl in January 2023. The incident, which involved Clarke's then-girlfriend Jade Yarbrough, gained significant media attention after footage emerged of the heated confrontation.
Stefanovic's apparent confession came during a speaking engagement at a dinner hosted by the Prince Alfred Old Collegians Association in South Australia. According to the Adelaide Advertiser, Stefanovic spoke about his departure from Nine and joked about the events that led to it. He reportedly quipped that while his exit from the network was difficult to understand, "it felt all right hitting Clarkey though."
The 2023 brawl occurred while Stefanovic and Clarke were holidaying with their respective partners, sisters Jasmine Yarbrough and Jade Yarbrough, on Queensland's Sunshine Coast. The altercation reportedly stemmed from messages between Clarke and his ex-girlfriend, fashion designer Pip Edwards.
Footage from the incident showed a shirtless Clarke being confronted by Jade Yarbrough, who accused him of infidelity. The exchange escalated, with Yarbrough slapping Clarke and pushing him. Stefanovic's wife, Jasmine, intervened to separate her sister from Clarke. During the melee, Clarke reportedly directed aggressive comments toward Stefanovic, which Yarbrough then defended by slapping Clarke further.
Following the incident, Michael Clarke issued a statement expressing remorse for his actions and the position he put those involved in. Pip Edwards, Clarke's ex-girlfriend, distanced herself from the situation, stating that Clarke had not taken responsibility for his actions.
