Vice President Kamala Harris ranked last among potential Democratic presidential replacements for Joe Biden in internal polling, according to Lindy Li, a former Democratic fundraiser and author of the new book "Unburdened."

Li, who switched her party affiliation due to concerns about Biden's performance in the 2024 election, stated that the polling data contradicted the narrative the Democratic Party wished to promote. "The polling numbers went directly against the narrative that the party wanted to espouse," Li told Fox News Digital.

According to Li, the party felt compelled to select Harris as Biden's successor despite the polling results, fearing backlash. "They knew that skipping over Kamala Harris would be a slap in the face to the bedrock of the party, which is Black women in particular, and they just wouldn't have it," she said.

In her book, Li details the period leading up to Biden's withdrawal from the 2024 race, suggesting that many party leaders were aware of the political liabilities associated with Biden's age. Potential replacements discussed included Pete Buttigieg, Gavin Newsom, Gretchen Whitmer, and Harris.
