Billionaire hospitality magnate Justin Hemmes, his partner Madeline Holtznagel, and their one-year-old son Jaeger were observed riding e-bikes without helmets in Byron Bay, a violation of New South Wales regulations. The group was seen navigating local streets and a beach on Friday, with Holtznagel reportedly holding their son, Jaeger, in front of her.
Under current New South Wales law, e-bike riders in Byron Bay are mandated to wear helmets. Failure to comply can result in an on-the-spot fine of $344. Hemmes, 53, who recently acquired a beachfront property in Byron Bay for $18 million, was seen riding without a helmet despite the documented risks associated with the practice.
Despite the legal requirement and safety concerns, the couple appeared to be enjoying their outing, laughing together in the sunshine. Following their ride, the family stopped at a beachfront café.
Holtznagel wore a beige-and-white tracksuit with sunglasses and her hair styled in a chignon, accessorizing with a brown leather handbag and sandals. Hemmes opted for a black jumper and grey chinos, while their son Jaeger was dressed in a navy fleece jacket, beige trousers, and a blue beanie.
Hemmes and Holtznagel have been a couple since 2019 and generally maintain a private personal life, making occasional appearances at public events. Holtznagel announced the birth of their son, Jaeger, in June 2025 via Instagram. She previously shared that she had anticipated having a boy and viewed it as a new journey with Hemmes, who has two daughters from a previous relationship.
