Joshua Kushner and Robert Iger have purchased the Los Angeles Lakers for $12.5 billion, marking the largest sale of a North American sports franchise in history. The deal was announced Wednesday morning.
Kushner, who is married to model and entrepreneur Karlie Kloss, and Iger, married to journalist Willow Bay, are now majority owners of the NBA team. Kloss, a former Victoria's Secret Angel and a prominent figure in the fashion industry, has been married to Kushner since 2018. The couple divides their time between residences in Malibu, California, and Miami.
Kloss recently attended an event in Los Angeles focused on reproductive justice, sharing details of the gathering on social media. In an Instagram post, she described it as "an amazing night in LA, sharing our 3 films on reproductive justice, Everybody’s Fight." She also emphasized the importance of civic engagement, stating, "As we gear up for fall, these stories are a good reminder of how important it is to take action and VOTE."
With this acquisition, Kloss is set to become one of the most influential women within the Lakers organization. Iger, the current CEO of The Walt Disney Company, has been married to Willow Bay since 1995. Bay is the dean of the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism.
