Josh Duhamel, 53, recently reflected on the 21-year age gap between himself and his wife, Audra Mari, 32, during an appearance on the podcast "The HoneyDew with Ryan Sickler." The actor humorously pointed out that his sister, Cassidy, is the same age as Mari, a realization that struck him after seeing an old photograph.
"I looked at the photo and I looked at my wife and I said, 'You and Cassidy are exactly the same age,'" Duhamel recalled, laughing. "I am officially too old for you."
Duhamel explained that the moment of realization came when he saw a picture of himself at 21 holding his infant sister. "I was 21 years old and she's having another baby," he said of his mother's pregnancy with Cassidy.
He noted that Mari and his sister are "literally like months apart in age," a fact that had not previously occurred to him until viewing the photograph. Duhamel also playfully asked the podcast host if the age difference was a "highlight or lowlight."
Duhamel and Mari married in 2022, approximately three years after they began dating. The couple welcomed their son, Shepherd, in January 2024, and their daughter, Rocca, in April 2024. Duhamel also has a 12-year-old son, Axl Jack, from his previous marriage to Fergie.
In a May 2025 interview on the "Not Skinny But Not Fat" podcast, Duhamel mentioned that he initially viewed his relationship with Mari as "platonic" due to their age difference. However, he decided to pursue a romantic relationship after realizing Mari was more mature than he was.
"And that’s really how we started dating and it’s been a beautiful thing," he shared.
Duhamel was married to Fergie, formerly of The Black Eyed Peas, from 2009 to 2019. Their son, Axl Jack, was born in 2013. In a 2023 interview, Duhamel spoke positively about co-parenting with Fergie, stating, "We both have the same priority and that’s raising a good son."
