Jose Mourinho, the acclaimed football manager, has offered fans a rare look inside his personal memorabilia room, showcasing significant items from his career and personal life. The collection features gifts from football legends Diego Maradona and Cristiano Ronaldo, alongside a unique garden gnome of himself crafted by a fan. This reveal comes shortly before the premiere of a three-part Netflix documentary detailing his life and career, scheduled for release on August 11.
Mourinho, 63, presented several key pieces from his collection in a preview clip released by Netflix. Among the items displayed are a pair of Diego Maradona's dedicated Puma boots and a Sporting Lisbon shirt signed by Cristiano Ronaldo. He also showed a trophy commemorating his 60th birthday and humorously remarked, "This is to remind me that I'm 60." The manager chuckled while holding up a garden gnome replica of himself, a creation from a Chelsea supporter, which he playfully described as "awful Jose."
Reflecting on his enduring success, Mourinho noted his consistent winning record since 2003, stating, "I started winning in 2003, and my last title was 2022... It was 20 years of winning. That's why you... you want to tell my story. You know, you don't do a documentary with a guy who wins nothing." His last major trophy was the Europa Conference League with Roma four years ago.
Return to Real Madrid
Mourinho has recently taken on a new role at Real Madrid, agreeing to a three-year contract. Club president Florentino Perez welcomed him back, calling him "one of the best coaches in the world, a proper Madridista." Speaking about his return, Mourinho described it as a "mission," emphasizing his commitment to helping everyone at the club improve and fostering a culture of hard work, responsibility, and ambition. He stated his purpose is not merely to work at Real Madrid, but to work for Real Madrid.
He indicated that preparations for the upcoming season have been ongoing, utilizing technology to facilitate work even before his official arrival. Mourinho's first competitive match back in charge of Real Madrid is scheduled for August 16 against Real Sociedad.
