Jon Stewart, host of "The Daily Show," on Monday criticized former President Donald Trump's remarks following the death of Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), who passed away at age 71.

Trump called into Fox News on Sunday, recounting frequent calls from Graham. Stewart, in a Trump impression, suggested Graham often reached his voicemail, describing it as "our thing."

Stewart then presented clips of Trump previously criticizing Graham on various issues, including the war in Ukraine and Graham's 2016 presidential campaign. After a silence, Stewart stated, "I think the president has zoomed through the first five stages of grief. And gone straight to number 6: ‘Fuck that guy.’"

Stewart also highlighted that Graham was the sixth member of Congress to die during the current term, comparing the frequency to "Petco gerbil numbers." He questioned the safety of congressional members, noting the job "is not dangerous" and they are "just sitting there."

"We don’t have a system that rewards experience and competence and performance. We have a system that rewards incumbency," Stewart commented, characterizing current members as "barnacles, utterly incapable of addressing a world moving much faster than the speed of ‘Matlock.’"
